BEL OMBRE 2050

What does the future of a coastal village look like?

A design competition invited architects, urbanists, and landscape designers to reimagine Bel Ombre for 2050.

About the Competition

Organised by CEDTI as part of its annual Colloquium 2025 titled "Living on the Edge", the Bel Ombre "Reshaping the Edge" competition invites Mauritian residents to reimagine this coastal village for 2050. Located in a high-risk area, the site demanded innovative adaptation strategies. Participants designed housing prototypes addressing water-related challenges while fostering community resilience, social cohesion, and ecological living.
