Creative Resources & Ambiances

Introduction

Year after year, the "Overshoot Day" (also known as the ecological debt day) tends to occur earlier in the calendar. Currently, it fluctuates between late July and early August (https://www.footprintnetwork.org/our-work/earth-overshoot-day/).

This indicator of the impact of human activities on natural resources, however, conceals significant disparities in access to resources and consumption behaviors—ranging from unrestrained to frugal.

With a high proportion of island states, vulnerable environmental contexts, and fragile natural environments, the regions of the Indian Ocean often witness the intensification and juxtaposition of two trends: resource depletion and the culture of frugality.

The research group "Creative Resources and Atmosphere" aims to address the challenges of this reality through a "global thinking/local action" approach. It supports creative initiatives and experimentation that intertwine the issues of resources and production processes with those related to perception, environmental relations, and sensitivity (atmosphere, comfort, well-being, artistic emotions).
